Some problems with vents.

Improperly installed vents can, and will, leak overt time. A properly installed vent is fastened with no fasteners exposed to the elements. If fasteners must be exposed, gasket screws or caulking should be used to prevent leaking. We recommend not installing anything in a fashion that will lead to leaks down the road. Note the improperly placed fasteners in the photo.

Northwest Roof Maintenance Yesterday we also traveled out to La Center
r WA. to repair two valleys on a composition roof that where leaking due to improper installation. These are a very common problem on composition shingle roofs, especially if they have a lap type valley. We carefully remove the valley material, install new felt paper and... install new shingles into the valley to a water tight condition. We have done hundreds of these same type of repairs in the last few years.

Roof cleaning and chimney flashings, Vancouver WA. Tigard ORegon,

We're off in two directions today. I will be installing new roof flashing on a masonry chimney in Vancouver Wa. As is the chimney has no flashing so water is leaking in every time it rains. We are also cleaning moss from a roof in Tigard OR. The roof is steep so we have to use safety lines and harnesses.
